Trader Joe’s Watermelon Summer Spritz Cocktail Recipe

Happy Wednesday y’all! Keeping up with the Watermelon theme today and sharing a fun summer spritz for the season that’s great with or without alcohol. I don’t know about y’all, but I’ve really scaled my drinking back to only Friday/Saturday of the week and I typically strictly stick to wine and/or Aperol Spritzes, but every now and then I’m a sucker for a fun, fruity cocktail (I had a blackberry mojito this weekend that was to DIE for). Sticking with true summer theme, this Watermelon Spritz is a fairly low cal poolside staple.

We picked up Trader Joe’s Sparkling Watermelon Juice a few weeks ago when I snagged the newest Watermelon additions throughout the store and I’m really impressed by these! I just found a similar spritz article on PopSugar that is super similar and can serve as inspo for my cocktail (recipe linked HERE). The juice only had 60 calories per can and is a refreshing summer necessity. If you’re opting out of alcohol, it’s great on it’s own and I’ve seen other influencers share that putting sparkling water/juice in a wine glass serves as a placebo to trick your mind into thinking it’s the real deal! Maybe not trick your mind, but at least you can fake it (especially since one can is close in calorie count to one glass of wine, so to speak).

Watermelon Summer Spritz Cocktail Recipe
INGREDIENTS:
Trader Joe’s Sparkling Watermelon Juice (1 can)
Quality Club Soda (to taste/top of glass)
Quality Vodka – I use Tito’s (2 oz)

DIRECTIONS:
1. Fill a shaker with ice, vodka and Sparkling Watermelon Juice
2. Briefly shake and pour into a large wine glass
3. Fill to the top with club soda
4. Garnish with watermelon or fresh lime
5. Optional: add a sugar rim to the glass prior to filling by placing lime juice around the rim and “dipping” in coarse sugar

In terms of my outfit details, this dress is by far one of my favorites that I picked up as part of quarantine sales/stocking my closet since I brought nothing. It’s Free People but I scored it on major sale at Macy’s and think it’s just SO cute! It has the perfect amount of coverage in the sleeves (coming from someone who has felt self conscious of their arms) and is a great length for us tall gals.

My sandals have been so crucial for support but they’re also so cute for summer! They’re also currently on sale and a great steal for by the pool this summer. They remind me of Birkenstocks at a fraction of the price so if you have heel/feet problems these are game changers!
