Happy Monday y’all! Kicking off the week fresh with a fitness update and something a bit different on Kayleigh’s Kloset. For those who don’t know, about mid-August I joined Barry’s Bootcamp here in New York after much debate between Barry’s and Orange Theory. After seeing such great results with my friend, Lauren, and talking to her about what worked best for her body type/lifestyle, I decided to bite the bullet and test the class out. Fast forward two months later, I’m still going and have loved the classes so far. I’m about to buy my third month membership (since I was gone in Spain for a week I waited to re-buy it), and can’t wait to see further results as we get into the program more! I’ve already seen a huge difference the more consistent I am with the program, and can’t wait to continue.

A little Barry’s Bootcamp background here. Barry’s is an intense one-hour long class that consists of floor work and treadmill work. Personally, I prefer to start on the treadmill so that you end the class on the floor. I also have pretty bad veins in my feet, so they can start to feel stressed if overworked. You can also opt for double floor work, where you just power through the circuits for the entire class. I’ve done this once, and while I felt the burn I didn’t feel like the class really was worth it without the treadmill. You’re going to burn the most weight with the treadmill intervals, and tone/build muscle with the floor. You usually spend around 10-or-so minutes doing the first circuit, then switch to/from treadmill to floor, then the second circuit is about 15 minutes or vice versa. My favorite part is that each class has upbeat music and red lights, so that it feels almost club-like.

For me, I started going to Barry’s Bootcamp because there’s one right around the corner from my apartment. It’s convenient, the classes are one hour, and I choose the 6:00AM slots so when I get out at 7:00AM I have time to go home, shower, get ready, and either answer some emails or get blog posts set, or make breakfast and clean the apartment a bit. It’s funny because I’ve started recognizing people who are always in my classes, as well. I have certain instructors that I like and some whose classes I’m not as fond of. I definitely prefer classes that have two rounds, so you’re on the floor twice and on the treadmill twice.

I asked on Instagram for different questions people would like to have answered and below are the top ones! If you have any additional questions about Barry’s Bootcamp or my personal journey with it, feel free to reach out! What do y’all think? Have a great day and thanks for reading!

Which membership do you do? Currently, I do the Barry’s Star Membership with 12 classes for 30 days. I’ve done the 10 class pack in the past, since it doesn’t expire like the memberships do.

How much does it cost? The membership I do is $340, and the 10 classes is $330. It’s a lot of money but all class-based workouts, nicer gyms, etc. in the city are around the same cost. I believe Orange Theory is $315 here.

How often do you go to Barry’s? With 12 classes over a period of 30 days, I try to go three times a week. Since every class is different each day, it really depends on your schedule and what you’re aiming to target. For instance, I hate Wednesday’s because it’s arms, back and chest day. So I’ll try and get AM blog shoots planned for Wednesday’s so that it doesn’t throw off my workout schedule. I really like Tuesday’s (butt & legs day) and Friday’s (total body).

What do you like about Barry’s Bootcamp? I like that the class really forces you to push yourself, but not in a harsh way. The instructors always say that you don’t have to keep up to their speed, and they give you watered down versions if you’re like me and have minimal strength. I also like that they adjust if you’re injured. I’ve been upping my speed on the treadmill and even upping my weights, so I feel good knowing that slight improvements are being made.

Is it worth the money? Personally, I think yes. If I go to my gym where I pay $28/month, I’m going to run a mile, maybe do some abs and arms, and then leave within an hour. If I go to one hour of Barry’s, I’m going to run anywhere from 3-5 miles, lift heavy weights, and actually push myself to feel it working. I feel so much better and more accomplished when I leave a class than anything else.

How long does it take to see results? Online it says anywhere from two weeks to two months. Combined with eating well and drinking a ton of water, I had colleagues tell me I looked skinnier within three weeks. I’ve noticed my stomach is flatter and less bloated, and my leg muscles have started to peer out again from my high school dance days.

How much weight have you lost? I’ll have to admit, I’m not counting weight because I don’t want to feel let down or lost in a number, so I don’t have a goal weight. I would be happy losing ten pounds, but right now I just document progress photos as I go. I’d like to think I’ve lost 3-5 pounds total, and have cut water weight down significantly. I’ve also stopped drinking as much on weeknights so that helps!
