New Year, New Skincare Routine

Happy Monday y’all and happy first actual week back at work! With the new year resolutions coming in hot, I wanted to touch on one of my main new year resolutions today: maintaining and holding myself accountable for my skincare routine. I’m a creature of habit, so I’ve been using the same face wash, serums and moisturizers since I was about 12, but now that I’m going on 25 it’s time to take it a little more seriously to prevent signs of aging, discoloration that’s popped up recently, and so forth. I’m also horrible about taking off my makeup and washing my face, which usually causes sporadic breakouts – especially on the weekends.

A little bit of background info on the new products I’m aiming to use in 2019. I have relatively sensitive skin, have always been acne prone, and have seen discoloration come about as I’ve gotten older, specifically rosatia. I’ve been peeling my face (lol at how that sounds) since the 6th grade. I had my first chemical peel and have been doing glycolic peels with my hydrafacials ever since. I’ve also been doing botox in key neerves since I was 20 due to chronic migraines (it helps freeze the targeted muscle where the migraines start). Taking into consideration other bloggers opinions and reviews, things I see on beauty sites/round ups and my skin sensitivity level I’ve rounded up skincare items that I think will work best for me. Are there any skincare items that have worked best for you? If so, I’d love to hear! Have a great day and thanks for reading!

1. Dr Dennis Gross Alpha Beta Universal Peel. Like I said, I’ve been peeling for years and have loved it. Since I can’t afford to go and get a peel as often as I’d like, this at-home peel seemed like the greatest supplement! This system is raved about in blogger land, so it has to be great! It’s a two-part pad system that you use daily, will keep you all posted on it.

2. Elizabeth Arden Retinol Ceramide Capsules. I used to use a perscription based retinol, but I saw so much buzz on retinol in 2018 that I knew I needed to get back on board to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The best part about these capsules is that you have the perfect dosage within one capsule. Super easy for traveling!

3. Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream. I’ve heard great things about collagen, and this marine cream has been clinically proven to show results in 15 days. It helps firm and moisturize, so I’m super excited to add it into my routine.

4. Origins Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil Mask. I’ve been using this mask for a few weeks and I love it. It’s a part of the whole CBD beauty craze, and it helps calm redness while hydrating. It was great when I was in Mexico and my face was getting a little red from the sun.

5. SkinCeuticals Discolor Defense Serum. Targetted at helping brighten discoloration, I can’t wait to incorporate this serum into more of my skincare routine. Brightening is definitely something I never knew about until I worked in beauty, but it’s great for any scar spots or dark circles.
