Spring Update: What’s Been Working For Me

Happy Tuesday y’all! What a week it’s going to be and I can’t believe Memorial Day is already next week. Where did the time go?! I’m more than ready to spend a solid five days in Mexico soaking up the sun with a margarita in-hand. Anyone doing anything else fun?

Sharing this simple baby blue dress today that’s quintessential for spring. It’s comfortable but a bit more structured, so it’s great for work or a Sunday brunch with your girlfriends. I paired it with my white cowboy boots. Are you surprised? I love these things so much. They’re super comfortable and go with everything, I’ll be wearing them all summer long. Don’t tempt me with a good time by pairing them with shorts! I added a pop of pink with my go-to fluffy earrings that I can’t get enough of. They match my favorite muted pink lipstick shade perfectly, and remind me of spring in the city with all of the blooming trees. As always, all outfit details are linked in the widget below!

Since I received so many responses when I last posted a life update HERE, I wanted to post a follow up now that it’s been a little over a month since hitting publish. I feel like I’m finally starting to come out of this dark hole I’ve been in over the last couple of months, and wanted to share a few small things that have been working for me to get my head back in the right place to move onward and upward. There’s always room for improvement and I’m always looking for any recommendations on what’s worked best for you, so if you have any let me know!

Working out more. Insert your classic rant on working out releiving stress, releasing endorphins, and being all around really good for you. Let me start by saying I don’t LOVE working out. I don’t wake up and think “wow it would be a lovely day to go on a run and enjoy the scenery.” I usually wake up (after my four alarms go off) and lay there and debate the $20 no-show fee at Barry’s before scrambling, running down the street, and checking in to find I missed my favorite treadmill spot because I got there one minute before class started. BUT that’s not saying I haven’t been going. I plan to do a longer update on Barry’s, but just within the last month going consistently, even on weekends, and sticking to it has helped me feel more calm, and overall better about myself. Every time I go I find myself thinking halfway through the class that I’m glad that I decided to go. The fitness thing really does help, y’all!

Going out less. If any of my friends make it this far in today’s post and read this sentence I think they’ll be texting me asking who has taken my place and where Kayleigh has gone. Honestly, since I’ve been working late and getting up early on weekdays and even prioritizing a workout on the weekend, it has made SUCH a difference to go out less. I used to never miss out on a Friday night out, but more and more I’ve found myself content with staying in. Especially since my moods have been so up-in-the-air, I find no shame with just staying in when I know that I’m not going to be as much fun as I usually am. It saves me and everyone around me, that’s for sure.

Open communication in you daily life. I’ve found that it makes your life so much easier to say what you’re thinking and how you’re feeling just to get it out, rather than letting it build up inside of you until you explode. I’m by no means a pro at this just yet, but I’ve started to voice my opinion now when I find myself getting frustrated with things or people, and it’s really helped center myself.
