March Beauty Favorites

Happy Thursday y’all! Keeping myself accountable for this series I started last month and super excited to share my March beauty favorites! I feel like I stepped it up this month due to quarantining at home and really trying out new things while taking a good look at my skin and hair routines. I’m super excited for April’s round up because I’m stepping out of the box and being more adventurous so stay tuned!

Each month I round up five all-time-favorite beauty products I’ve tried and will now be incorporating into my routines. Trying new beauty products is one of my absolute favorite things, especially as I get older and different concerns come about (i.e. redness or brittle hair).

Let me know if there’s every anything particular you’d like to see me try! And if you ever try any of my recos, I’d love for you to tag me or shoot me a note with feedback! Have a great day y’all and thanks for reading.

1. Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Lip Pop. Erika Stalder (an editor over at Refinery29/Well + Good) posted this lippie on her IG stories from a mailer and when I was in Sephora I knew I needed to grab it and BOY am I glad I did! It’s an exfoliating, tinted lippie that smells amazing, gives your lips a pink glow, and instantly dissolves to exfoliate the driest of lips. I use this as a night treatment, before I would make the commute to work (prior to COVID), and as a touch up throughout the day. Glow Recipe is also donating beauty kits to frontline workers amidst COVID-19.

2. Drunk Elephant Virgin Marula Oil. Now this isn’t a new product launch, but I really tried to make an effort to get my skin (and self) used to facial oils and this is the holy grail. I have never liked the feel of oil whether it’s during a pedicure, if I spill Olive Oil while cooking, let alone anything I put on my face… up until I tried a tester of Drunk Elephant’s Virgin Marula Facial Oil I received with the TLC Sukari Babyfacial. It does WONDERS plumping skin and creating such a soft, subtle, hydrated glow. I ran out of my tester in Houston and am going to cry if I have to wait to get back to the city in May to get another.

3. Wishful Yo Glow Enzyme Scrub. Huda, I bow down to you with this one. I saw one TikTok testing this product and how exfoliating it can be and instantly ordered. I love anything with AHA/BHA, and this packed enzyme exfoliant LITERALLY peels away the bad stuff, leaving you with basically baby fresh skin. It’s only a two-time weekly use, so it’s not going to take over your daily cleanser but it will definitely do it’s part with your skin.

4. Summer Friday’s r+r Face Mask. Full disclosure, I’ve had this mask from a gift set but had never fully tried until quarantine. It’s probably the most stunning mask you could own with bits of rose petal in the granular scrub. It smells like heaven, works to exfoliate and refresh, and comes in the prettiest packaging.

5. Kenra Moisturizing Oil. Y’all know I love my Kenra and the latest hair launch is no joke. Like I said above with the facial oil, I hate oils and I hate the texture so I was highly skeptical of this one and putting it in my hair. It’s the perfect travel size, so I took it to Houston (background: I don’t travel with my hair products because I don’t have any travel sized products and it usually results in frizzy/dry ends and fallen curls) and tried one morning. They say you can’t over-saturate your hair with this product, so I used two full palms of product and massaged into damp hair (focusing on roots). The result was STELLAR – smooth and manageable hair with a hint of shine that lasted a few days. I’ve now started to apply a palm full into my dry/curled hair to help separate for “influencer waves.”
